Teacher steps up to provide help for essential workers
Teacher Aide Elizabeth Cozzi at the Robert Williams School has been busy making PPE and donating to families in need. She has used her laser cutting machine to make over 1,500 “S” hooks to be used for healthcare workers to allow them to hook their masks around the head or neck and alleviate the pressure off their ears. She also sold “paint-at-home” kits to raise funds that allowed her to donate meals to St. Joseph's hospital in Plainview and Winthrop hospital (ER department and NICU department- both COVID units) and over 300 boxes of pasta to families in need around the community in partnership with Nina's Deli in East Meadow. Additionally, she held "hometown hero" giveaways and gave gift kits along with other local businesses to essential workers.
