Eileen Dwyer, Program Coordinator and Katie Yodice, Program Specialist for the Nassau BOCES Center for Online Learning, presented a session entitled, “Collaborations and Connection” at this year’s NYSCATE (The New York State Association for Computers and Technologies in Education) Annual Conference: Mission Possible, in Rochester, NY. School district teachers and administrators from the New York State area, as well as educators from other parts of the US and Canada, attended this popular conference to hear about best practices in instructional technologies.
This session guided participants in learning about the benefits to classrooms through Class-to-Class Collaborations, Career Connections, and Diversity and Cultural Connections. This session was one of nine sessions presented by members of the New York State Distance Learning Consortium (NYSDLC), the New York statewide organization that includes New York State Distance Education and Videoconferencing administrators from regional NYS BOCES.
Annually, NYSCATE sponsors a statewide conference drawing 1,500 attendees and 150+ exhibitors, spotlighting exemplary applications of technology in education. The conference spans three days, featuring half and full-day hands-on workshops during the initial two days. Throughout the event, over 120 presentations by teachers and technology experts offer valuable insights. NYSCATE consistently secures keynote speakers who are esteemed authorities in their respective fields. On its website, NYSCATE provides links to educational resources, current issues, conferences, seminars, and grant information. Timely updates on technology and education-related issues and regulations from both state and federal governments are disseminated through email blasts and newsletters.
