Children’s Readiness Center gives back to the Autism Society
The ‘Care and Kindness Campaign’ kicked off at Children’s Readiness Center (CRC). The staff’s fundraising efforts culminated in a $1,000 donation to the Nassau/Suffolk Chapter of the Autism Society.
Speech Therapist Barbara Zmudzinski and Teacher Danielle Baglieri spearheaded the fundraising efforts. Gift cards were donated by local merchants and staff contributed hand-made crafts. These items were then raffled off. Parents were included with opportunities to buy an ‘ad’ on the I heart somebody for Autism bulletin board in the school.
“We really appreciate all their support over the years, and we wanted to give back to the Autism Society,” said CRC Principal Amy Goldstein.
“Thank you for this donation, especially during COVID. This donation means so much as it is one dollar at a time from individuals,” said Suzanne Reek, Executive Director, Nassau/Suffolk Chapter of the Autism Society.
The Nassau/Suffolk Chapter of the Autism Society services over 4,000 Long Island families. They provide free educational, social, recreational opportunities and sensory friendly social events to families touched by autism. Grants for echnology, classroom materials and community outings are also provided to local school programs.
