Nassau BOCES Board Trustee brings important U.S. flag to France

Nassau BOCES Board Trustee, Robert “B.A.” Schoen along with Board President Susan Bergtraum and the staff and students at Nassau BOCES Iris Wolfson High School were on hand to fly the American flag over their school. The same flag also flew over President Teddy Roosevelt’s home, Sagamore Hill, and its next stop is Normandy, France, where two of Roosevelt’s sons died in action. Mr. Schoen will be traveling there with the Amityville Legion Pipe Band. He noted, “As the son of two WWII Veterans, I was reared with a sense of obligation to "Never Forget". At Nassau BOCES we teach much more than only academics, we model and teach good citizenship and values. I'm proud and grateful to be a part.” The flag will be displayed several times in France. After the flag has been displayed, it will be presented to American Legion Post 1, Paris.
