January 2016 Meeting
Guest Post by Marc Epstein, District Technology Director
Great Neck is pleased to host the January 14 NASTECH Meeting at Great Neck South Middle School. Please arrive promptly at 11:00 a.m. Our Security staff will direct you to parking. Register early so you can receive a pre-registration e-mail which will enable you to sign into Lobby Guard, our visitor management system.
You will be greeted by one of our Student Technology Leaders, who will guide you to our dedicated Professional Development IT Lab for a quick walkthrough, and then up to the Library Media Center where you will be seated in a rolling Steelcase Node Chair with tablet stand work surface, part of our classroom environment modification to support our 1:1 program. Lunch will be served by BOCES, followed by district and school presentations describing our Instructional Technology Program and 1:1 iPad Initiative.
You will then have the opportunity to visit a variety of classrooms and see instruction and learning in a 1:1 iPad environment. One of the stops will be our state-of-the-art District TV Studio, the first such facility in the nation that dates back to the 1960s and includes a modern and fully operational studio, control room, engineering room, video editing suite, and streaming media/video-on-demand system. The visit will conclude in our Auditorium, where you will view a video recording of the student-created homeroom television broadcast that is streamed live to all classrooms every morning with a new auditorium projector and sound system, followed by a Q&A session.
An exciting, jam-packed, and worthwhile visitation awaits you!
