A senior at Island Trees High School (ITHS), Brittany Wilson has already demonstrated the qualities of a born leader. Elected Senior Class President, Wilson is also president of the National Honor Society and the Yearbook Club, Varsity Cheerleading Team Captain, and a peer leader. Her 90-plus grade point average has earned her a spot on the Honor Roll and in the Foreign Language Honor Society, while her overall affability and infectious spirit made her a shoe-in for Homecoming Queen.

Wilson keeps her feet on the ground and her mind focused on helping others. Of her own accord, the ITHS senior recruited 30 of her classmates to join in Adventureland's "Pumpkin Park," a Halloween celebration for children in need. Wilson threw herself into the RockCANRoll food drive at her school. Not content with the goods collected at the high school, she took the drive over to the middle school and, before she was done, collected more than a thousand items for the hunger relief organization. She has also raised money for several vital causes through a variety of fundraisers, such as Dollars for Scholars, the Families of SMA Walk and the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.

A former member of the Steppin'-N-Style Dance Team, she performed for residents at a number of local nursing homes, and taught younger girls dance techniques and cooperative skills that helped to build their self-confidence. Wilson also worked with aspiring young cheerleaders helping them to learn the basics of cheerleading.

At school -- when she's not achieving in the classroom or leading outside of it -- Wilson is committed to a number of extracurricular pursuits including Student Council, Key Club, orchestra, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and Shared Decisions, where students and faculty come together. She also spends time tutoring three students.

"Brittany Wilson is an absolutely amazing individual," wrote her Education Partner Award nominator. "Her enthusiasm is contagious. With her altruistic spirit and devotion, Ms. Wilson touches so many lives and makes them better. She is a role model and the epitome of the perfect student."
