Troubleshoot sending to a distribution list

This article covers troubleshooting tips when you are having problems sending to a distribution list (listserv).

Problem sending to a distribution list:

You receive a bounce back email from a listserv and your message is not received by any list members.

Solution 1: Double check the listserv email address.

  • Note that all listserv email addresses end in @nassauboces.org instead of the @nasboces.org domain used by Nassau BOCES employees for email. 

Solution 2: Check that you have the proper permission to send to the listserv.

  • If your email software is configured with multiple email addresses, be sure that you are using the correct email address for your listserv.
  • Contact the List Manager at lists@nasboces.org to confirm that you are listed as an authorized sender.

Problem sending to a distribution list:

Your message is delivered to the majority of list members, but you receive a bounce back email from an individual member.

Solution: Check the email address for accuracy and validity.

  • If the email address is not or no longer valid, please email lists@nasboces.org so that it can be removed from the Global Address List.
  • If you can confirm the validity of the email address, please forward the bounced message to customercare@nasboces.org and lists@nasboces.org for troubleshooting with the receiving domain.
