Maureen Mullé

Certification Specialist
Nassau BOCES

As Regional Certification Specialist for Nassau BOCES, Maureen Mullé is the quintessential authority on certification requirements for all Long Island educators, from fledgling teachers to seasoned administrators. For nearly 30 years she has been an indispensible resource for anyone pursuing a career in education. She has helped thousands of individuals to navigate the certification process, including first-time candidates seeking their first teaching position, current teachers looking to broaden their certification area, and those entering education from entirely different career fields.

Charged with evaluating and recommending certification for all Nassau County teachers and educational administrators, Ms. Mullé works closely with the Office of Teaching Initiatives in Albany to ensure that candidates get through the process in a smooth and timely manner. She maintains regular contact with personnel administrators, keeping them up to date on changes in certification regulations and assisting them in expediting the process for potential teacher candidates.

Ms. Mullé is available at all hours to aspiring teachers and school administrators alike, even answering emails while on vacation. Her 28 years of experience in the educational system have given her a wealth of knowledge, which she shares through informational workshops held at local school districts. She works to ensure that all who attend her workshops understand what is required to obtain their initial certification, as well as professional certification, as their careers advance. She is also an active member of the advisory board for the education division of Hofstra University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Ms. Mullé is of particular help to military veterans looking to start a new career. Not only does she help to guide these individuals through the complex and sometimes confusing steps necessary to obtain certification, she also offers them the support and encouragement they need to complete this challenging process and meet the certification requirements.

“It is truly an understatement to say that Maureen Mullé is passionate about her job in public education,” wrote her award nominator. “Her dedication to her job extends past the typical workday. She works tireless hours and, as a result, has impacted the lives of countless Nassau County educators.”
