2019 George Farber Outstanding Student Award Honoree

Elizabeth Robinson

Elizabeth Robinson

Carman Road School
Valley Stream CHSD

Elizabeth is goal-oriented and enthusiastic student who is respectful of others. She came to CRS several years ago as a very shy, young girl who wouldn’t speak or interact with others. She was confined to a wheelchair, had difficulty transferring to a stationary chair and resisted ambulating. Through much effort on her part over the past few years, Elizabeth now participates in group activities, initiates conversations and is social with others. She is now using a walker and predominately ambulates around the school without any mechanical assistance. These were difficult goals to achieve and Elizabeth is to be commended for her persistence and hard work. She demonstrates outstanding achievement in course of study. She loves to participate in class and be a class helper.

Elizabeth demonstrates an interest in classroom activities and has shown growth in working independently. She works very hard to succeed. She performs random acts of kindness, maintains a friendly rapport with peers and faculty, and is a positive role model for everyone in the school. She is quick to engage others with a friendly smile or gesture. Elizabeth participates in activities and takes pride in being a member of the school community. Currently, she is an active participant in the Spirit Club, Spin Club and Weight Training Group. She has good daily living skills and enjoys helping whenever we bake. She works in the school store collecting money from the customers and putting it in the register. She is a very caring person and has a great sense of humor.
