Milagros (Millie) is a gifted graphic designer and has interned in Nassau BOCES’ Graphics Department this year. She has a very good eye for design, picks up on the workings of our computer programs, is a very good listener, and she always comes in cheery and enthusiastic. Millie represented Barry Tech at Skills USA last year in the regionals for Promotional Bulletin Board and won 2nd place. She also represented Barry Tech at the state level in Syracuse. She will be attending Alfred State University or Farmingdale State College to pursue a degree in Graphic Design upon graduation.

While at Barry Tech, Millie earned six college credits in Graphic Design from Farmingdale State College through out dual enrollment program. She has worked diligently towards creating designs, concepts and sample layouts for product illustrations, company logos and websites. She enjoys developing graphics and layouts and is talented at designing text and art elements in a visually appealing way. Millie is a student ambassador for Skills USA and she is the Treasurer of the National Technical Honor Society. She is a genuine leader among her classmates. Her grades have been consistently above-average in all of her Animation and Digital Media Design units. Named Student of the Quarter, she has achieved High Honor Roll every quarter and was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society.

Millie is very active in the youth ministry at her church and helps coordinate youth social activities and services. She has actively volunteered at Bethany House through Barry Tech’s service learning projects. Millie sets an example for all students of Barry Tech – one of scholarship, leadership, character and service for others to follow.
