Giannina Maresca

Long Island High School for the Performing Arts
Massapequa UFSD

During Giannina’s tenure as a performing arts major at Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA), she has worked diligently to improve. She expects excellence from herself, meeting every challenge with grace, and approaching her art, her academics and her life with an insatiable hunger to learn. Giannina began at LIHSA studying music, but it wasn’t long before she joined the school’s Dance Repertory Company. She now excels at a variety of dance and has dramatically improved her technique in ballet, tap, jazz and modern dance.

A born leader, Giannina was elected President of the Student Council. In this role, she is dedicated to bettering the lives of her fellow students through creative problem solving. She was also integral to the creation of LIHSA’s virtual dance repertory performance, in response to COVID requirements restricting public gatherings.

Giannina spreads positivity and compassion wherever she goes. She is always willing to help a classmate when they need help, and to lend an ear to anyone who needs advice. She is mature beyond her years and courageous in the face of bullying and intolerance, demanding her peers treat one another with respect.
